Novice Drivers
For the purposes of the 2007-2008 UBCSCC Slush Series, a novice is defined as a person who has competed in 3 or less events before October 1, 2007.

Minors
Any drivers under the age of 19 must have a completed Minor Participation Waiver. This document must be complete and presented at registration or you will not be permitted to drive. A new form is required for each event.

Run/Work Order
The run order will be posted after registration closes on February 24th, 2008. This is to allow the computer system to apportion classes based on equal run group times.

Cameras
Cameras may not be used on course at worker's stations unless prior consent is given by the Event Chair or Event Steward. If consent is given, you will be required to have a spotter with you at all times.
On-board cameras are not allowed unless securely mounted onto the car (suction cup or bracket mounts at the discretion of the Head of Technical Inspection). Specifically, passengers may NOT handhold any cameras. Anyone in violation of this rule will have his/her camera immediately confiscated and may face additional penalties at the discretion of the Event Chair as this is a serious safety concern as outlined in the CACC GCR.

Classing Changes & Protests
All competitors have the right to protest a competitor's class. It is the competitor's responsibility to prove their allegations. All protests and classing changes must be received by email to mark@ubcscc.com within 72 hours of the results being posted. All successful protests will be posted - however, they will not identify the person who made the protest. In addition, all results, awards and titles are not final until 72 hours has elapsed and there are no pending protests. UBCSCC retains the right to revoke or modify free events subject to classing and ranking changes.

Slush Series Competition
All cars will compete in the classes listed in the 2007 SCCA Solo Rulebook. It is the competitor's responsibility to ensure their vehicle is compliant with the allowances for their class. All classes will be scored based on the 2007 PAX Values.

For the purposes of the Slush Series, we will be grouping classes in an effort to eliminate single driver classes. Slush Series trophies will be awarded for your overall position within your group, not for your position in your own class. All UBCSCC members can accrue championship points. The Slush Series trophies will be calculated based on an equal weighting of each competitor's best 5 events out of a possible 7.

The class groupings will be as follows:
Group 1 - STS, STX, STS2, STU
Group 2 - CS, DS, ES, FS, GS, HS
Group 3 - SS, AS, BS, ESP
Group 4 - BSP, CSP, DSP, FSP
Group 5 - SM, DM, ASP, SM2, AP-FP, AM-FM

UBC-SFU Challenge
3 categories and 3 schools make up this event (we've included BCIT as well).

The 3 categories are: "Senior Team," "Novice Team," and "General Team."

During registration on the morning of the event, drivers who are active students or alumni will be asked to identify which of the 3 schools they represent.

The morning session will be used for practice and qualification. Using indexed times, we will identify the top 4 senior drivers and top 4 novices drivers from each school to make up their senior and novice teams, as well as a General Team (for those belonging to a school who does not qualify for either teams) for the afternoon session.

In the afternoon, the best run for each driver will be used to calculate the average time for the team they belong to. The team with the lowest average time wins the category for their school.

The school that wins at least 1 category wins the challenge.

Should all 3 schools win a category each, a tie-breaker will be used to determine the winner of the challenge: The school with the lowest average time from all the drivers takes the win.

Additional Regulations

  • This event will be held under the 2007 CACC GCR and Solo 2 rules.
  • All competitors must possess a current valid driver's license, and be at least 16 years old.
  • The off-course speed limit is 15 km/h. All posted speed limits on access roads must be obeyed. Any other abnormal/unusual driving techniques performed off course shall result in immediate disqualification. VIOLATORS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFIED.

Ford Road, Harris Road and the area around the airport must be treated with respect. That means no speeding, squealing tires, burn-outs, loud music or anything that might make the general public worry for their safety or register a complaint with the facility. If anyone is caught doing this they will be BANNED from future events at this site. We simply cannot take any chances with jeopardizing this last AutoX site in the Lower Mainland.

  • Absolutely no alcoholic beverages or drugs are permitted on the event site. Competitors are not allowed to compete under the influence of such substances. Violators will be immediately escorted off the premises.
  • The pre-grid and course areas are completely off limits to small children and animals. Pets must be adequately leashed when on site.
  • Please do not approach the timing tent and vehicle unless you are asked to. Site restrictions may be imposed by the site owner regarding off-limits areas. These may be published separately or posted on site and must be obeyed at all times.
  • Helmets are required for all competitors. A minimum Snell 2000 rating is required. Helmets will be inspected for compliance at Technical Inspection (Tech). Loaner helmets will be available for those without their own helmet.
  • All people competing at the event must complete work assignments to be eligible for series points and championship trophies. NO WORK = NO POINTS. Competitors caught skipping worker assignments will not be allowed to attend UBCSCC events for an indefinite period of time.
  • Competitors needing to run outside of their assigned run group must ask the Chief Event Organizer prior to the driver's meeting. A sufficient reason must be given to justify running out of group. Competitors running out of group may be subject to protest if a weather change influences results in their favour. If such a protest is filed, a time penalty will be determined by the Chief Steward of the event. Anyone running out of group will work their run group.
  • Scoring Format: A competitor’s score for each run shall be recorded as the total time in seconds plus penalties (number of pylons). The corrected time with pylon penalties translated into time shall also be calculated. PAX Times will be calculated as follows: Time = (raw time x PAX Index) + pylon penalties.
  • Trophy positions will be awarded as stated in the SCCA Solo rulebook but no trophies will be presented at the events. Trophies will be awarded and presented for the overall Slush Series results for each group at the awards banquet after the last event of the series in February 2007.
  • The fastest of official timed runs including penalties will be used to determine event standings. A cone will count for 2 seconds and missed gates will be deemed a DNF.
  • It is your duty as a competitor to keep the pits and grid area clean and safe. All spilled fluids must be cleaned, and fluids removed from a vehicle must be taken with you when you leave. Please take your garbage with you.
  • Passengers are allowed for Official Timed runs. However, novices are not allowed to take other novices as passengers, unless they have a senior driver present in the vehicle. The ability of any competitor to take passengers can be revoked at any time if the event organizers are concerned with event safety.
  • No vehicle may surpass the 96db noise limit. If a competitor exceeds the noise limit, their official times will be forfeited.
  • Incidents involving injury and/or property damage occurring on the event site, or felt associated with the event will be reported as soon as possible to the Event Chair and the Event Steward.
