The UBCSCC Trackday Program:
The UBC Sports Car Club strives to run safe, fun, and reasonably priced trackdays for our members. Last year, we hosted three sold out and highly successful track days. For 2010, we have set the bar higher yet and aim to deliver three top quality events to our members. Our trackdays are open to virtually all type of vehicles from stock to modified. "R-compound" tires are acceptable for Group A and B drivers provided the weather cooperates (more information under Vehicle/Tech Requirements).       For 2010, we will be continuing with the popular format from 2009 to maintain the same great experience for all those at our track days. Each date will comprise of only three run groups which will allow us to maximize track time for all participants. This year, each track day will be limited to 36 participants at a cost of $225 each. Like last year, all those participating will need to be UBCSCC members in good standing. Each run group will have just shy of 2 hours on track, broken up into 4 sessions, starting at 9am and ending at 4pm. We will also have a one hour lunch break where we will have complementary pizza, water, and pop available to all those participating. Important Dates:
We will run three dates at Mission Raceway Park this year. All entrants will be required to prepay by Karelo, signup links will be posted on the forum on the specified dates. Mission Raceway Date #1: Friday, July 9th, 2010 Mission Raceway Date #2: Monday, August 2nd, 2010 Mission Raceway Date #3: Thursday, August 26th, 2010 Return to top of page Novice Information:
For the purposes of our trackdays, we define a novice as a person who has not completed a trackday, in the car they are planning on driving, with either the UBCSCC or another group that we recognize and can verify. Important: if we cannot verify your previous experience, we will classify you as a novice for the entirety of your first track day with UBCSCC. We will be accepting a maximum of twelve (12) novice drivers for each of our trackdays.
Novices will be not allowed to carry any passengers except a qualified senior driver for the purpose of instruction. Also, novices will be expected to drive on street tires only regardless of weather. Return to top of page Vehicle/Tech Requirements:
Ensuring your car is safe for the track is your responsibility - not ours. We will conduct a short technical inspection on each car on the morning of the event, however, you must prepare your car for this event in advance of the day of. We will not be torquing lug nuts on-site, however, if we have any questions about the mechanical soundness of your car, we may elect not to allow you to run - please be proactive and make sure everything in your car is up to the task . Vehicles with cracks >3" in the windshield will not be allowed to run. Like autocross, there are to be no loose items in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. We will have a few loaner helmets available, if you are using your own helmet please ensure it is at minimum an M2000 or SA2000 certified helmet (same certification as for autocross use).
At bare minimum, you MUST flush your brake fluid before this event. All cars must have at minimum 50% brake pads remaining - if you dont know how to check this, any mechanic should be able to determine this in a few moments for little to no charge. There is no minimum tread depth required to accomodate those running race tires, however, under no circumstances shall there be cord exposed on any tire. In the event of rain, at our discretion, we will disallow 0-tread depth r-compound tires in the interest of safety - if there is a chance of showers, make sure you have tires with tread available.       We will provide run group and car number decals for all participants - these must be displayed, unobstructed, in approved locations for the duration of the day.
